Maine

Yet again, we’ve been with very little to no cell service or electricity – so usually we’d be somewhere with service, but no battery, or vice versa!  Sorry for the lateness!  We’ve been enjoying the past five nights in beautiful Maine.  Wow – I’ve fallen in love with this state.

The first three nights, we followed our friend’s advice – thank you, Kevin – and rented a cottage near Mount Blue State Park in Weld, ME.  Although the cottage was technically in Carthage, it was a short drive to the park.  And the site was so beautiful.  We did a hike out on the mountain – no idea what it was called.  But the views were absolutely breathtaking.  I attempted a panoramic picture of the view.  But it still doesn’t do the view justice.
We live in a beautiful country.  It reminds us how much to be thankful for each and everyday.  I urge any of you, if you’re able, get outside, do your research and usually you’re no more than an hour away from a site of beauty that nature has created.  This trip has shown me that if you actually stop, breathe, and take in your surroundings,  there are astounding things to be noticed.  It’s better than any medication or therapy I’ve ever experienced at healing and strengthening the mind.   Sometimes, you just need to give yourself the break.
We have been in Acadia National Park the last two nights – staying in Seawall Campground.

Hiked a trail by the Campground called WonderLand.  Brings you right out to the coast.  Saw a sea urchin (um, shell?  Dead?  Empty? – unsure proper term.

In the past few weeks, Gabe was able to watch hummingbirds sip from wildflowers over a beautiful stream every morning in NY.  I was able to just watch sunlight hit sparkling streams as the day passed, throwing rocks to Paisley as she joyfully paws at the water.  We’ve been able to sit in absolute silence for hours, just listening to the birds, wind, grasshoppers and crackling fire.  I have seen more tree varieties in the last two weeks than I have in my entire life.  Words cannot express the gratitude that we have that you have shared this with us and helped us make this trip a reality.  You have helped our minds mend and helped us mentally receive the break we need to keep going as strong as we need to.

Now, although we have been stunned by the beauty of these states – I am sad and horribly terrified of how large the spiders are becoming.  NOT cool.

Tomorrow, we start the trek home, our plan isn’t sent in stone – but the night of the 28th we plan to be in Johnsburg, NY – in the adirondacks.  Were anxiously awaiting the views, and plan to stop somewhere in Vermont or New Hampshire for tomorrow night.

Sending love and we will see you the next time we happen upon service and electricity!
